My new thoughts on supplements
Sunday November 27, 2011
I will claim to being one of the first people in Australia to embrace the “pre-training” supplement era.
After discovering no-xplode when it first came out to the market in Oz in the early 2000s, I was pumped (in more ways than one) over what pre-trainers and what little supplements there were available, could do for our training and results in the body we wanted.
Of course now there’s all the testosterone boosters, human growth hormone stimulators, fat burners, cleansers, vitamins, minerals, sleep aids, proteins, energy increasers, blood oxygenators, lactic acid blockers, muscle cell volume enchaining, strength increasing supplements (basically if your body can do it, there a supplement to assist with it) available to help you achieve the body you want yesterday. We place so much trust in our supplements, the brands who supply them and the supplement outlets which are popping up everywhere – all in the hope to find the best product for our bodies to achieve the result we desire. Here’s the thing that only just recently clicked with me… You need to first understand your blood (the real healer/enhancer of your body) before you put anything into your body.
A lot of us take supplements without properly understanding ourselves before we do (I was guilty of this). I am not knocking supplements or rejecting their use and you can get results from them when they are used correctly. Here’s the goal I think supplement use should be about:
Take what you need to keep your blood amazing. Replace any deficiencies you have within your body. Train hard with your weights and cardio. Eat clean with the right proteins for you in high amounts.
Anything you do to your body that produces a result you need – maintain it to maintain the result. If you want more results you need more of it (volume or knowledge).
Simple.
Why be artificially lifted to a level you are not really on without the stimulant? Be and build the real you.
