Why drink water?
Sunday November 27, 2011
Did you know without even lifting a finger your body needs at the very least 2500ml of water per day?
- 1500 ml/day excretion by kidneys in the form of urine
- 500ml/day evaporation and sweating from the skin
- 300ml/day from the lungs
- 200ml/day from the gastrointestinal tract
Are you drinking this much? You can only maintain a balanced body fluid level if you are replacing this 2500ml and not doing any physical exercises. Exercise increases muscular actions and your muscles demand oxygen for action. Water losses as little as 2% has been quoted to significantly impair your daily performance. The world health organisation recommends drinking 6 to 8 large glasses of water per day. This is only to maintain your normal water levels. Drink at least half a litre before your exercises to ensure your fluid levels stay high and continue taking as much water as you can during when you are training. Water is the soul of us. Proper hydration should be at the top of everyone’s eating plans and supplements list.
