6 Weeks til LA Baby!
I found myself 6 weeks out from a trip to the United States for holiday, first stop LA. I’d spent most of the year saving and planning for this amazing trip, but I was feeling a bit low as I was carrying a few extra kgs. I wanted to drop the excess kgs before heading off to the US for 5 weeks with two of my gal pals. I wanted to be feeling fit and confident about myself. I knew that we would be going out on the town and shopping for new clothes. I didn’t want to be having a “fat day” while on holiday. I knew what I had to do. We all know what we have to do….eat well and increase activity!
I was feeling pretty stressed back then as I’d just completed an exhausting project, started a new job, moved office locations, and coping with depression. I had become good at making excuses as to why I couldn’t take myself to the gym or for a walk.
I finally approached Lianne for her help. I told her I had 6 weeks before I hit LA and wanted to lose 5kgs. She knew that I was struggling with the idea of taking on the challenge. I really wanted to do it, but didn’t think I could make the commitment. Regardless of my nerves Lianne put an action plan together for me. At first I thought there was no way that I could do it. But I was only holding myself back from what I really wanted.
The Exercise:
I bit the bullet and got stuck into it and before I knew it I was two weeks into my new routine. I admit that the first two weeks were the hardest. I struggled emotionally and physically, but it was worth it. I always felt better after a session.
By the 4th week I was really starting to notice a difference, not only in my fitness and energy levels but also in my body shape. My clothes were starting to loosen and my body was starting to feel taught.
The exercises always varied and wasn’t repetitive with small achievable goals. I never felt board.
The Food:
I thought that I would struggle with my eating plan, but honestly I never felt like I was on a diet. I’m a pretty good eater most of the time. I don’t really like fast food. My vices are chocolate and wine. I did manage to ditch them during the week, but I did allow myself a day off on the weekend to indulge a little. I just tried to eat a variety of fresh food and not overdue anyone thing. I actually found that I was eating more.
Support:
Lianne was very supportive and gave me lots of encouragement…especially during the tough times. We also had quite a few laughs along the way. She was there for me every step of the way.
The end result:
At the end of the six weeks I had reached my goals and was feeling really good about myself – physically and emotionally. I had lots of energy for my holiday. I was able to walk around all day sightseeing and not feel exhausted. I could also lift my suitcase – that got heavier and heavier without struggling….go guns! I also made better food choices while on holidays and managed to keep the weight off. I’m now back from my holiday and planning my next fitness goals.
